Situated at the foot of the Black Mountains in the
Honddu Valley, far up the Vale of Ewyas, lies the Llanthony Priory Hotel. The
Hotel dates back to the 12th century and was originally part of
the Llanthony Priory which was built by Augustian monks. A visit to the
Hotel is like stepping back in time, as the building is very much the same today
as it was when it was built, with it's narrow spiral stair way
leading to each of the four bedrooms situated in the tower, it's magnificent
dining room, which originallyy served as the Prior's outer parlour
and conference room and the bar, possibly once the prior's quarters.
With the "Offa's Dyke trail" situated close by,the Llanthony Priory
Hotel is the perfect stop off point for walkers and cyclists alike,
whether for a quiet drink, a delicious meal or an over night stay,
there can be no better way to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel and
it's surrounding country side. For those who prefer to travel by
horse back, there is a Pony Trekking Centre next to the hotel. For the
cyclist there is the added bonus of a lock up garage for push bikes.
